With joyful hearts, the Poor Clares cordially invite all the faithful to join us in celebrating the Solemnity of our Seraphic Father, St. Francis of Assisi, on the 800th anniversary of his death.
Although this celebration falls on a Sunday, within the Franciscan Order we joyfully honor St. Francis with the solemnity proper to our Franciscan family, giving thanks for the gift of his life, his vocation, and his enduring witness to the Gospel.
For us, the Poor Clares, this Jubilee holds a particularly profound and joyful meaning. St. Francis is our spiritual father and the founder of the Franciscan family, while St. Clare, inspired by his example and preaching, became his “little plant” and the mother of our contemplative vocation. Eight centuries later, we continue to grow as little plants rooted in the same Franciscan soil, seeking to follow Christ in poverty, prayer, simplicity, fraternity, and love.
We warmly invite you to join us in this special celebration as we give thanks for the life and legacy of St. Francis and ask, through his intercession, for the grace to renew our love for Christ and our commitment to the Gospel.
